Problem

Ocean degradation alters natural ecosystems with dire economic impact on fishing communities

Solution

Regenerative ocean farm network to converting seaweed biomass into sustainable by-products

About the company

Kee Farms was started in 2020 in response to local environmental degradation, and the impacts observed on fisherfolk because of climate change. It is a regenerative ocean farm network in the Caribbean focused on ocean restoration, by converting seaweed biomass into sustainable by-products to create a pipeline of value chain offerings. They are the first and only climate change-focused start-up in the Caribbean using vertical ocean farming modalities for sustainability. They have been able to retire almost 3 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere and provide jobs for more than 50 fisherfolk, while bolstering the "blue economy" to promote job creation.
